Fox trounced the competition in the ratings on Wednesday night as the dozen women remaining on “American Idol” took to the stage for a chance to advance to the reality show’s top 10. According to Nielsen’s estimates, 22.6 million viewers tuned in to Fox for the 90-minute episode, considerably more than any other show on the night. CBS ranked second with its back-to-back procedurals “Criminal Minds” at 9 p.m. (14.3 million) and “Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior” at 10 (10.3 million). ABC placed third, earning solid ratings for “Modern Family” at 9 (10.1 million) but trailing at 9:30 with its new series “Mr. Sunshine” (7 million) behind Fox’s comedy “Traffic Light” (7.4 million). ABC’s 10 p.m. offering, “Off the Map,” struggled further with 5 million viewers. NBC was a distant fourth on the night, broadcasting a lineup of mostly reruns with the exception of a new episode of “Minute to Win It” at 9 (3.6 million).
